1. J Balvin, 57.8 million monthly listeners
His real name is José Álvaro Osorio Balvin and he was born in Medellín, Colombia. His solo career began in 2004, when he was 19 years old.
Although he recorded his first album in 2009, he kept releasing singles from the beginning. So far, he has 6 albums in total. Since 2014, he has been nominated 20 times for the Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards, in the urban genre.
2. Bad Bunny, 45.1 million monthly listeners
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio is from Puerto Rico and is an important exponent of trap music. In the beginning he posted his own compositions on social media, until in 2016 he joined the record label Hear This Music to launch the famous trap anthem “La occasion”.
In 2017, he managed to position 15 of his songs on the Hot Latin Song list of Hispanic radio stations in the United States. Up to date he has recorded 4 albums and continues to be unstoppable.
3. Ozuna, 44.5 million monthly listeners
Born in Puerto Rico to Dominican parents, Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado began exporting his music in 2015. Working within the genres of reggaeton and trap, in his short career Ozuna has achieved the record of obtaining 11 wins at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. He has global sales of 20 million copies.
4. Daddy Yankee, 40.2 million monthly listeners
Definitely the Puerto Rican Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez is one of the pioneers of reggaeton, being the one who popularized it inside and outside of Latin America in the 90s. His album “Barrio Fino” was the one that opened the way for this Latin genre to the world. In fact, it is considered the best album of all time, within its category.
5. Camila Cabello, 36.9 million monthly listeners
Her full name is Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao, she was born in Cuba and her father is Mexican. She is a pop and R&B singer with Latin music influences. Her fame began as part of the American musical group Fifth Harmony.
Paying tribute to her Cuban roots with her song “Havana”, this powerful artist kicked off her solo career in style and has continued to grow stronger. In addition to being a successful singer-songwriter, Camila has declared herself a spokesperson for immigrants and she’s an advocate for the rights of Hispanics in the United States.
6. Maluma, 35.5 million monthly listeners
This Colombian, a native of the city of Medellín, mixes reggaeton with pop and other urban genres. Juan Luis Londoño Arias started in the world of music at the beginning of the decade of 2010. He is very popular on social media and he’s one of the artists with the greatest impact in Latin America.
In 2015, he signed with Sony Music Latin and has released 3 albums. During the years 2018 and 2019, Maluma broke a record in all his concerts in the United States and Europe with full houses. Likewise, he has conquered Arab territories with massive performances.
7. Anuel AA, 31.6 million monthly listeners
The Puerto Rican Emmanuel Gazney Santiago, began his musical career in 2011 with the genres of reggaeton, trap and rap. But it was in 2016 when he became known worldwide with the song “La ocasión”, which featured the participation of Ozuna, De La Ghetto and Arcángel. He has two record albums: “Real hasta la muerte” and “Emmanuel”.
8. Karol G, 30.7 million monthly listeners
Carolina Giraldo Navarro is from Colombia and her music encompasses the trap, reggaeton and pop genres. She made her debut in 2012 with the hit “301” alongside Reykon. After releasing several singles, she signed with the Universal Music Latin Entertainment label, which ended up boosting her career.
At the end of 2019 she made a collaboration with the American rapper Nicky Minaj, titled “Tusa”. This song made its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and Rolling Stone Top 100 charts, at 78 and 56 respectively.
9. Shakira, 27.4 million monthly listeners
According to Sony Music and Billboard, Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll is the “Queen of Latin Pop”. With her album “Pies descalzos”, in 1995 Shakira crossed the borders of her native Colombia. Since then the Barranquilla star has just continued growing in popularity and success.
Shakira is one of the most established artists in all of Latin American musical history. Her career allowed her to give a new meaning to the participation of Latin singers internationally. In addition, she is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
10. Nicky Jam, 26.9 million monthly listeners
Nick Rivera Caminero was born in the United States, his father is Puerto Rican and his mother is Dominican. At the age of 10 he moved to Puerto Rico and in 2007 he settled in Colombia, where he was nationalized.
