Who is Adriana Cisneros?
Adriana was born in Caracas, Venezuela, at the end of 1979. Coming from a family of notable entrepreneurs, all her life she was immersed in entrepreneurship and business development related to the communications sector, inside and outside her country.
Her paternal grandfather, Diego Cisneros, was the one who founded the Cisneros Group. In the beginning, this conglomerate was dedicated to the commercialization of products of international brands such as Pepsi Cola, to later venture into the media and entertainment through Televisa and Venevisión.
On the other hand, her maternal great-grandfather, William H. Phelps, is the creator of Venezuela’s first commercial radio station Radio Caracas.
Without a doubt, Adriana not only grew up on television sets but also saw the results of the hard and constant work of her family members.
At the age of 14, she was able to learn a little more about the business while she accompanied her father Gustavo Cisneros during a trip to several Latin American countries. At that time, the goal was to find partners for DirecTV, a satellite television project.
Her academic training was completed in the United States. In 2010, she completed the Harvard Business School Leadership Development Program. She had previously completed a master’s degree in journalism from New York University (2005), after her undergraduate degree from Columbia University (2002).
Adriana’s participation in the Cisneros Organization
Since 2009, Adriana Cisneros is an essential part of one of the largest corporations in the world. The Cisneros Organization is dedicated to media and entertainment, digital advertising solutions, real estate and social leadership.
For 4 years she served as Vice President and Director of Strategy. At that time, Adriana developed technological initiatives such as RedMas and Adsmovil, implementing online and mobile advertising networks for the Latin market in the United States and Latin America.
Currently, Adriana is CEO of Grupo Cisneros. Broadly speaking, she is in charge of establishing global strategic alliances, developing new lines of business and expanding the scope of the company in its three divisions: Cisneros Media, Cisneros Interactive and Cisneros Real Estate.
Upon taking the reins of the Cisneros Group in 2013, one of Adriana’s objectives was to innovate the concept of television. This is how she promoted the production of soap operas that provide viewers with unique experiences depending on the electronic device they used. Alternate stories, behind the scenes and final selection were some of the elements introduced.
In addition to this, Adriana is also the President of the Cisneros Foundation. This private, non-profit institution has been in charge of promoting education and culture in Latin America for more than four decades.
It should be noted that the Cisneros Organization is committed to diversification through investment in startups related to its activities. In fact, they do not seek to invest in giant markets but rather in those that offer the possibility of being pioneers, especially in Latin America and the Hispanic market.
