Surely you know who Eva Longoria is, but maybe you don’t know how much she has done to support the Latino community.

Eva Longoria has a long career as an actress in the United States and has accomplished important achievements. But that’s not all, she uses the power she has in Hollywood to promote spaces where Latinos can develop their full potential.

Eva Longoria’s story

Of American nationality and of Mexican descent, Eva Jaqueline Longoria grew up on a ranch in Texas. She was born in the city of Corpus Christi in 1975, where she won a beauty pageant in 1998.

By then she wanted to be a model, however, her 1.57 height was an impediment to entering that world professionally. On the academic side, Eva earned a degree in Kinesiology from Texas A&M Kingsville University.

Beginning of her acting career

Shortly after graduating, it was a talent show in Los Angeles, California that put her in the crosshairs of a theatrical agent. Her television appearances began in 2000 at Beverly Hills 90210 and General Hospital. Her first role as part of the cast of a series was that of Isabella Braña Williams, a psychotic woman in The Young and the Restless, between 2001 and 2003.

In 2004, the character that catapulted her to fame, Gabrielle Solís in Desperate Housewives, came into her life. This popular comedy and drama series was produced by the studios of the ABC television network, ran for 8 seasons, and originally aired until 2012. Her outstanding performance led to her being nominated at the 2006 Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress, as well as which allowed her to win 2 SAG Awards from the Screen Actors Guild of America.

Desperate Housewives opened the doors to other areas of the show business industry. Inevitably the big screen has also been territory conquered by Longoria. She has had notable appearances in feature films such as The Heartbreak Kid, Over Her Dead Body, and Overboard, just to name a few.

However, Eva has gone beyond just being in front of the cameras. The television series Devious Maids and Grand Hotel have had her intervention as executive producer and stage director. In addition to being successful in her professional career, Eva has given herself the task of helping. She is the organizer of the charity gala The Global Gift Gala in Marbella, in order to raise funds for children with cancer. Likewise, she is a spokesperson for the NGO Parents Against Cancer and supports the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

On the other hand, Longoria is a collaborator of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the HOME Project, the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation and the National Association for Stroke.

In addition to this, Eva has created her own welfare institutions. In 2006, she founded Eva’s Heroes to support children with disabilities. Likewise, she formed the Eva Longoria Foundation with the mission of contributing to the education of Latina women and empowering them.

But this great woman with a Latino heritage never stops, she is completely determined to give her all for her community. This is how she has promoted the birth and development of Momento Latino, a movement for civil rights that is responsible for providing access to education, business loans, health insurance and government consulting.

Other interesting facts in the life of Eva Longoria

We already know that Eva Longoria is much more than a pretty face, however, it is worth remembering that she has been recognized on several occasions as one of the most beautiful women in the world. By the way, she has been an ambassador for L’Oréal for 15 years.

She was also listed as the highest paid actress on television in 2011, according to Forbes, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

As for her entrepreneurial streak, Eva opened El Beso restaurant in West Hollywood and El Beso Steakhouse in Las Vegas alongside her partner, celebrity chef Todd English. She also wrote a 2011 cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen: Cooking with Love for Family and Friends.

The world of fashion did not escape the talent of Longoria who designed a clothing line that was presented in a show during New York Fashion Week. Likewise, in 2010 she launched a collection of 4 perfumes called Eva Longoria for Women.

Spontaneous and full of energy, this Latina is unstoppable. With a fairly intense professional and social life, she has a privileged place for her husband José Antonio Bastón (Pepe Bastón) and their young son, Santiago.
